Fileread Releases Major Axis Upgrade: More Control, Less Manual Work
Fileread today announced significant updates to Axis, its agentic extractions tool, giving litigation teams more granular control over ESI analysis while cutting setup time from hours to minutes.
What's New
The update centers on two core improvements: flexibility in how teams start their extractions and unprecedented control over how AI processes their documents.
Teams can now upload pre-existing CSV files with just column headers. Fileread's AI generates the queries, value types and extraction strategies automatically. For law firms with established schemas, this eliminates hours of manual setup.
Alternatively, teams starting from scratch can describe their goal in plain language. Axis will suggest relevant columns, which users can then accept, modify or delete.
Once extraction begins, users have deeper control than ever:
Editable query strategies: See exactly how the AI plans to extract information, and modify the approach if needed
Adjustable value types: Change whether a field extracts as text, numbers, dates, or other formats
Reusable templates: Save custom extraction schemas for future matters
Improved table UI: View more data in a cleaner, more compact format
Additional updates include Excel export with inline citations linking back to source documents, and bulk document management for faster organization within the document library.
What This Means for Litigators
Most litigation teams face the same bottleneck: generic AI tools that weren't built for legal work. You spend weeks configuring systems, correcting errors and working around workflows that don't match how litigation actually happens.
These updates solve three problems at once. First, you work within whatever process you already have. Already built extraction schemas? Upload them. Starting fresh? Let Fileread suggest a starting point. Second, if we get something wrong, you can correct it at a granular level without starting over. Third, once you've built something that works, you can reuse it across matters.
The result is ESI analysis that takes days instead of weeks, with better accuracy and less manual intervention. Your team focuses on legal strategy while the our software handles document grunt work.
Fileread's Axis updates are available now to all users with Relativity integration.
