Introducing Workbench
Insights answers a question. You ask the record something, it answers, you check the citation, you move on. That covers a large share of the work. Plenty of litigation work is a chain of questions, though, one building toward something you file: a chronology, a deposition outline, a factual brief. Each step depends on the last and sends you back into the record. On a document-heavy matter that chain runs for days, most of them involve reading and re-searching to assemble it by hand.
Workbench takes on that chain.
What it does
Workbench is the agentic layer in Fileread. You give it a task, and it works the questions underneath it.
Plans and runs long tasks. Ask it to build a chronology of the payment dispute and it breaks the request into steps, then works through them across the full record.
Builds and runs its own searches. It decides what to look for next from what it has already found, the way an associate works a set.
Runs repeatable procedures. Work you do the same way on every matter, a contradiction report or a privilege first-pass, becomes something you run on command rather than rebuild from scratch.
Assembles the work product. The output comes back structured and ready to refine.
What stays the same
An agent doing more of the work usually asks you to trust it more. Workbench does not. Everything it builds carries the same citations a single Insights answer does. Every event in the chronology and every fact in the memo pins back to its exact place in the source. You check a whole work product the way you check one answer, by looking at where each piece came from. The agent does the assembly. You keep the verification.
What this means on a matter
Insights out of a chaotic record. The larger and messier the set, the more the manual version costs you. Workbench works volume you cannot get through by hand.
Work product that arrives drafted. Chronologies, deposition outlines, and factual briefs come back built and cited, ready to refine instead of assemble from nothing.
Decisions you can stand behind. You work off the record itself, every conclusion traceable, rather than off a summary you take on trust.
